special mass to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of St. Alberts Jr. Seminary

On Sunday, September 17th there will be a special mass to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of St Alberts Jr. Seminary in Middletown, NY at 12:00noon. The High School seminary officially opened on September 16, 1917. Fr Albert Metcalf was the first prior. It was he who suggested putting the property and Junior Seminary under the patronage of St Alberts honoring his own patron – Saint Albert of Sicily. Not much is known in regards to the numbers of students in the beginning years since no student records were kept until 1926. But, the High School Seminary opened in 1917 and would continue to educate young men for the Carmelite Order and the church until it closed in 1977. All alumni and friends of St Alberts as well as their families are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served in Pilgrim Hall after the mass.
