Conference of Major Superiors of Men Issues “Instruments of Hope and Healing” Statement

Like all religious communities, the Carmelite Friars of the North American Province of St. Elias are deeply committed to the protection and care of young and vulnerable people in the Church. Following the lead of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the Conference of Major Superiors of Men in this country, the Carmelites work hard to provide a safe environment for minors in all our places of ministry and houses, strive diligently to educate ourselves about this area of human and Church life, and evaluate ourselves carefully to be sure that we are following all the best practices so that we safely and trustworthily minister to all young people. Our Province has recently been fully re-accredited for five years by Praesidium Religious Services, an independent organization which monitors the Safe Environment standards for most religious communities of men. Attached, you will find the recent statement of the Conference of Major Superiors of Men regarding this issue, and behind which the Carmelite Friars stand.
